KOTA TINGGI: The owners at 27 business premises here have ordered to cease their activities for defying the rules outlined by the government for the conditional movement control order (MCO) period
Kota Tinggi OCPD Supt Ahsmon Bajah said that among offences these premises had committed were allowing mass gatherings and not practising social distancing
"We also issued 47 summonses to individuals who disobeyed the conditional MCO, including those who took part in illegal racing
"We urge the public to continue complying with the conditional MCO despite the festive season," he said after an operation on the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri here on Sunday (May 24)
Supt Ahsmon added that police have not received any complaints from the public on any mass gathering on the first day of Hari Raya
"We monitored several areas in Kota Tinggi, including a few villages and housing areas
"So far the public seem to be giving their cooperation and complying by the conditional MCO," he said, adding that he hopes this continues
He also urged the public to inform the police if they come across open houses that failed to comply with the rule that only a maximum of 20 people can visit an open house at any one time
"We hope the public would channel any information or complains they may have on the matter to the police," he said
On a separate matter, Supt Ahsmon said that some 1,246 applications for interstate travel have also been approved by the police
"The approved applications were for those who have valid reasons that are in line with the conditional MCO regulations
"We will continue to monitor attempts at interstate travel among the public," he said. - Star
