PETALING JAYA: The public has been encouraged to make use of the National Information Dissemination Centres’ (Nadi) programmes and training to improve their living standards and skills.
Bandar Tun Razak MP Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail said Nadi offers free membership and gives the community the chance to engage in entrepreneurship, employment, or self-development, particularly through the rapid progress of technology.
She said Nadi can help small and medium enterprises and entrepreneurs grow by using e-commerce platforms such as Shopee.
“This will enable them to reach a wider market, both domestically and internationally,” Bernama quoted her as saying at the launch of Nadi Desa Tun Razak centre today.
Also present at the launch was Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) chairman Salim Fateh Din.
Wan Azizah also said Nadi provides a pathway for lifelong learning, as adults and young people can acquire knowledge and skills relevant to technological developments, such as through technology workshops and digital learning courses.
“At Nadi, we’re not just taught how to use technology, but also given knowledge on how to protect ourselves and our families from cyber threats,” she said, adding that cybersecurity programmes help one to be more careful with personal data.
In a statement, MCMC said Nadi Desa Tun Razak is one of three new centres launched since last Sept 17, bringing the total number in Kuala Lumpur to 24.
It also said today’s launch included various activities such as an entrepreneurs’ exhibition, an online safety briefing, and free health screenings.
“Nadi’s functionality has now expanded beyond providing access to the internet (as) it also empowers communities through five main cores of the Smart Services initiative introduced in July 2024,” it said.
The five cores – entrepreneurship, lifelong learning, self well-being, awareness and government initiatives – are aimed at ensuring that programmes effectively fulfil communities’ needs to drive progress in society. - FMT
