The 30-year-old is annoyed that people have been posting that his brother, 38-year-old Tengku Nizaruddin, had drowned.
"There hasn't been any confirmation that my brother is dead. I appeal to everyone to take down these posts," he said.
Tengku Nizaruddin's car was reported to have plunged into the river near Bukit Kepong sometime after 4pm yesterday. The vehicle was found today.
"I, as the younger brother of Ija (his brother's nickname), kindly ask everyone to take down posts that he died. The police are still looking for my brother," he said.
Tengku Aziz said his brother's "disappearance" was at first taken as a joke by their family as Tengku NIzaruddin was fond of pulling surprises.
He said he was with his brother at 2pm yesterday, having travelled in separate vehicles from Johor Baru to Parit Jawa.
"We met over a business issue and then we went our separate ways... Ija said he wanted to go to a friend's workshop in Parit Jawa.
"We were told the last time anyone was able to get in touch with him was at 4pm yesterday," he said.
Tengku Aziz said the place where his brother's car was found in the river was not far from where they had last met up.
"When we couldn't get in touch with him, we tried calling the friend he was supposed to meet up with but we were informed that Ija never made it to the workshop."
District police chief Assistant Commissioner Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said rescuers were still scouring the river for any sign of the driver of the vehicle. - NST
