Mujahid Questions Exclusion Of Th Restructuring Plan From Rci Terms

Former religious affairs minister Mujahid Yusof Rawa has questioned the reasons behind the omission of the Tabung Haji restructuring plan from the terms of its soon to be set-up Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI).
Mujahid, however, said he is prepared to be summoned before the RCI panel.
“From the beginning, I have been supportive of an RCI but its members must comprise qualified experts.
“I am puzzled why the restructuring plan was not included in the RCI’s term of reference when it was framed based on summary findings from the audit firm,” said the Parit Buntar MP.
“Once again, I would like to stress that an RCI must be transparent and professional without any political agenda behind it.
“If I am summoned, I am ready to reveal steps and actions taken by the (former) Pakatan Harapan government to save Tabung Haji, including to lodge police reports against individuals involved in misappropriation of its funds,” he said in a statement today.

Mujahid, who is also Amanah deputy president, also questioned the timing of the RCI, 17 months after the PN government came into power.

He said this in response to the government’s announcement that an RCI will be formed to probe the pilgrimage fund.
Deputy Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision was reached at a cabinet meeting yesterday.
Ismail Sabri said the matter was agreed upon following issues arising from audits carried out by consultants such as PricewaterhouseCoopers, Ernst & Young, and Roland Berger from 2014 to 2020.
However, he said the RCI’s scope does not include the LTH Restructuring and Rehabilitation Plan currently being implemented.
He said the RCI would also determine whether there was a cover-up or misleading statements, besides also submitting a report and recommending follow-up actions to the government, if necessary, within three months.
It would recommend appropriate action to be taken against parties involved, either directly or indirectly, if they were found to be in breach of any law. - Mkini
