The Audi Gt50 Concept Marks 50 Years Since The First Audi 5 Cylinder Engine Was Made
Their latest creation is the Audi apprentices in Neckarsulm, who undertake the construction of the new GT50 concept. They produce a very beautiful and unique concept every year, paying tribute to an old model.
Audi decided to launch a concept car to mark the 50th anniversary of the 5-cylinder engines in Audi. This choice resulted in the unveiling of the design in an Audi video film, where the Audi 100 second generation was introduced 50 years ago and it was the first mass-produced series car with a five-cylinder in-line engine to be released. The year 1976 was its first anniversary year.

Currently, the only engine that is used by Audi is the inline-five engine in the Audi RS3, and this all-wheel-drive hot hatch will be the backbone of the new GT50.
The Audi apprentices have completely transformed the RS3 into a tribute to some of the most successful Audi 5-cylinder race cars in the history of the sport. These include the 90 Quattro IMSA GTO and the 200 Quattro Trans-Am models, both of which were extremely successful in the United States of America during the 1980s and 1990s.
With its large profile, simple surfaces, nostalgic visual features like the old-style front grille, and perhaps most notably, its enormous aero wheels, the GT50 pays homage to these legendary figures in the world of motorsport.
There was little information provided regarding the concept’s technical characteristics; however, it is equipped with the same 2.5-liter turbocharged 5-cylinder engine that generates 394 horsepower as the normal RS3.
