Muhyiddin To Make Announcement Soon On Opposition Mps Allocation

There will be an important announcement in a few days regarding the draft memorandum of understanding (MOU) on allocations for all opposition MPs, said Perikatan Nasional chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin.
However, he said a discussion will be held first between the opposition MPs and central PN leadership as the proposal is unusual and complicated.
“We held several meetings and decided that, among others, the proposed MOU is rather unusual and complicated, not one that really intended to help the people's representatives,” Muhyiddin (above) told a press conference at Dewan Tunku Ibrahim Ismail in Kluang, Johor today.
He also indicated that some opposition MPs were unhappy with the proposal.
Earlier this month, opposition chief whip Takiyuddin Hassan said the government had laid out seven conditions for PN in exchange for financial allocation for its MPs.
Takiyuddin HassanThe clauses include matters pertaining to speech that touch on 3R (religion, race and royalty), and obligating all PN MPs to declare their assets to the government.
They would also need to agree to support the government until the end of this term, Takiyuddin said.
He added that he had received the draft memorandum from Deputy Prime Minister Fadillah Yusof’s office on Aug 6, but PN had yet to deliberate on the matter as they were in the midst of the Nenggiri by-election in Kelantan then.
On July 9, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim stated that the issue of fund allocation to opposition MPs should not be a complicated matter to resolve.
He said the conditions for any opposition MP seeking to obtain allocations are basic requirements and standard procedures in any negotiation and democratic practice. - Mkini
