Move Away From Racism Says Prabakaran After Slur On Shuttler

Batu MP P Prabakaran has condemned the use of race by the country's players and is urging Malaysians to move away from racism as a whole.
In a statement today, Prabakaran claimed that despite Pasir Puteh Bersatu vice-chief Borhanudin Che Rahim’s apology for using a racial slur to refer to national shutter S Kisona, the issue remains rampant among some political parties to gain political points.
“The party in government today does not respect the concept of the Malaysian Family touted by Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob,” said Prabakaran.
He added this was not the first incident where race has been played by the country's political players.
“I condemn any party that deliberately uses race to gain political points. We need to move away from racism to take Malaysia to a higher level and be progressive,” said Prabakaran (above), who is also Federal Terrorities PKR Youth chief.
Look for common ground
Prabakaran’s statement comes after Borhanudin had posted on Facebook under the name "Borhan Che Rahim" questioning where the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) had recruited Kisona from.




National shutter S Kisona
Kisona had represented Malaysia in the Sudirman Cup 2021 tournament in Vantaa, Finland, and made it to the semi-finals where she was defeated by Indonesia’s Gregoria Mariska Tunjung.
Borhanudin also used the K-word, deemed derogatory to Indians, to refer to Kisona. She is the national women's singles badminton player.
The statement also courted condemnations from the BAM and also from Youth and Sports Minister Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
Borhanuddin has since submitted his letter of resignation to the Pasir Puteh Bersatu division over the matter.
“Sports should be a vehicle free of racist elements. We should remove ourselves from racism and start looking for common ground in developing the country towards a better direction. In the end, Malaysia belongs to all,” said Prabakaran. - Mkini
