Mou On Forming Pn Just To Show Pm Has Majority Support Nur Jazlan
The memorandum of understanding (MoU) to form Perikatan Nasional was inked only to reflect the majority support for Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin to helm the country, says Johor Umno deputy chairperson Nur Jazlan Mohamed
News portal The Malaysian Insight quoted Jazlan (above) as saying that the MoU was signed ahead of the parliamentary meeting yesterday to facilitate the chamber's seating arrangement
“It is not binding. It is merely an MoU, despite the fact it says it is part of the formation of PN
“It will not lead to the registration of PN as a pact, like BN and Pakatan Harapan
“It was just to show and facilitate administration in Parliament. There is no attempt to make PN a (formal) coalition,” he said
Nur Jazlan said yesterday it showed that Muhyiddin has the support
The seating arrangement for the Dewan Rakyat sitting yesterday revealed that Muhyiddin had the support of 113 MPs
The MoU was signed by BN, Bersatu, PAS, GPS, and two Sabah-based parties
Earlier this month, it was reported that the Umno supreme council had rejected a proposal to formally join PN in order to safeguard the position and interest of the party
The MoU stated that PN would ensure good governance at the federal and state level
It said PN parties will also enhance the spirit of sharing and togetherness between Sabah, Sarawak and Peninsular Malaysia in order to achieve the goal of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63)
The parties have agreed to strengthen PN via consultation and discussion, and respect all races, religions and cultures for the sake of the country. - Mkini
