Motorists Fumed By Surprised Putrajaya Exit Closure On Major Highways For Vvip Convoy Rehearsal

A FEW credible digital citizens have led the chorus to express dismay at the relevant authorities for an unannounced road closure purportedly on expressways leading to Putrajaya yesterday morning (April 12) by the police to facilitate a “VVIP convoy rehearsal” exercise.
This started with South China Post Malaysia correspondent Hadi Azmi (@amerhadiazmi) tweeted at 10.59am yesterday (April 11) of “cops blocking the Putrajaya exit on MEX highway, probably to let someone super important have a smooth drive”

“You can’t enter the highway from Equine Park either,” he penned on X. “You all (are) gonna miss your flights. Take the train instead.”
His PSA (public service announcement) eventually went viral (by having generated as many as 852K views) with one motorist who was presumably caught in the massive crawl sharing photo of an ambulance getting “stuck/need to make a U-Turn on the LDP (Damansara–Puchong Expressway)”.

One curious netizen went on to probe the identity of the said VVIP from X’s very own AI (artificial intelligence) chatbot @Grok who revealed that the congestion could have been due to “preparations to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping who is slated to visit Malaysia from April 15-17” although there was no official confirmation.

Another enquired from @Grok’s who was the Malaysian Prime Minister during the year the entire ELITE Expressway was closed “just because The Beast (US presidents are driven in a heavily armorer limousine) wanted to pass by”.
The reply was 2014 during the visit of the then US president Barack Obama which coincided with the premiership of now incarcerated Datuk Seri Najib Razak who reigned from 2009 to 2018.

Well, this somehow invited tit-for-tat reaction which only goes to show that even during time of despair, Malaysians and voices of political dissent cannot be separated.

On a more serious note, a digital creator shared an Astro Radio Traffic (@astrotraffic) PSA of “traffic congestion from Bandar Serenia heading to KLIA due to the closure of lanes for VVIP convoy training by the PDRM (Royal Malaysia Police) a short while ago (all lanes have since been re-opened).”

However, Thevesh (@Thevesh) also seized the moment to call on Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil and Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to kindly ensure that ample notification is provided in the future.
“Nobody is saying that high-profile persons don’t need security,”: he tweeted. “But please, just give notice when roads are going to be closed. Government also can easily add a notice on Waze + Google Maps. This is low-hanging fruit.” –  Focus Malaysia
