More Than Half Of Frontliners In Sabah Vaccinated

Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said, as today, 28,445 people have been inoculated, including 67.5 per cent of the frontliners in the state. - KHIS/MOHD ADAM ARININKOTA KINABALU: More than half of the frontliners in Sabah have been vaccinated with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines.
Sabah Covid-19 spokesman Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun said, as today, 28,445 people have been inoculated, including 67.5 per cent of the frontliners in the state.
"To date, the Sabah Health Department has received 470 reports of people experiencing side effects, via the MySejahtera application, National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency website and Pharmaceutical Information System.
"However, most of them experienced only mild side effects which are not life threatening," he said during a virtual press conference.
Masidi added that for the next phases of inoculations, the health authorities were targeting 30,000 people to be vaccinated every day, including during weekends.
To date, 241,492 people in Sabah have registered to be vaccinated via MySejahtera.
Through the Covid-19 Immunisation Task Force committee, several joint outreach programmes involving federal and state agencies will be held to raise awareness among people throughout the state.
Expatriates can also register similarly via mobile application and they will get the vaccine either in Phase 2 should they be elderly or have comorbidities, or in Phase 3 if they are neither.
"Locals will be prioritised on vaccination, when 70 per cent of them have received it, we will proceed to the illegal immigrants.
"The Sabah government is working with the National Security Council to fine tune the registration mechanism for immigrants without documents," he said.
Today, Sabah recorded 29 Covid-19 cases. However, Masidi said the state government has yet to allow travel bubble activities between states under the Recovery Movement Control Order.
As for Nabawan, the state government has agreed to extend the Movement Control Order (MCO) for another two weeks until March 30 for the district based on risk assessment and pending for 872 Covid-19 results. - NST
