Monitor Ministers During Campaigning Pn Youth Chief Urges Voters
Perikatan Nasional (PN) Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari has urged voters casting their ballots in the upcoming six state elections to observe and document the presence of ministers in their area during the campaigning period.
This would be useful in preparing election petitions when the need arises, he said.
He cited the decision by the election court in Kuala Terengganu on June 27 to nullify PAS member Ahmad Amzad Hashim’s victory in Kuala Terengganu in the 15th general election (GE15).
Ahmad Fadhli (above), who is also the PAS Youth chief, urged members of the public to note and document the presence of ministers who give handouts at their voting constituencies.
“Based on the court decision in the Kuala Terengganu election petition, any federal minister can be considered an agent of the Pakatan Harapan-BN government in the upcoming state elections.
“Please make video recordings and gather all evidence of any minister coming to areas where state polls are being held to give handouts as they would be useful for election petitions later,” Ahmad Fadhli said in a Facebook post today.
High Court judge Mohd Firuz Jaffril passed the verdict on June 27 in allowing the election petition by BN’s candidate for the constituency, Mohd Zubir Embong.
The judge ruled, among others, that there was an element of bribery in the distribution of financial aid from the state government - via the i-Belia and i-Student initiatives - prior to GE15.
Besides Kuala Terengganu, Marang, and Kemaman, BN also filed election petitions to challenge the GE15 results for Gua Musang, Putrajaya, Masjid Tanah, and Segamat.
However, The High Court in Kuala Terengganu upheld PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s victory for the Marang parliamentary constituency during GE15.
