Molest Allegations A Fabrication Says Ex Assemblyman
Former Kemaman Umno deputy chief Wan Ahmad Nizam says his spine was injured in an assault which took place in Chukai, Terengganu on March 15. (Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: The “influential” politician from the east coast being probed by the cops for allegedly molesting a woman last year has dismissed the claims as being made up to tarnish his reputation.
Utusan Malaysia quoted Wan Ahmad Nizam Wan Abdul Hamid as saying he and his wife had never slept over at his friend’s house as they have their own home in Kuala Lumpur, contrary to what was claimed in a 48-year-old woman’s police report.
The former Air Putih assemblyman said he was not surprised by the “fake report” lodged against him as he had been threatened and assaulted by his friend last Sunday, to the point of injuring his spine.
The former Kemaman Umno deputy chief also claimed that his friend had owed him some RM200,000 and that their friendship had deteriorated over his failure to pay off his debts.
“Last Sunday (March 14), he and his wife came to my house supposedly to discuss his debts but suddenly he punched me twice in the head and threw a flower pot at my body to the point that I could not get up,” he told the Malay news portal.
He added that he lodged a police report against the man at the Chukai police station in Terengganu and the suspect was detained in Ampang, Selangor on Friday evening. He was granted bail.
Terengganu police chief Roslee Chik confirmed to Utusan that a report had been lodged over the assault, adding that the case was being probed under Section 324 and 427 of the Penal Code.
Wan Ahmad Nizam said he will be leaving it to his lawyers to take further action over the molest allegations.
Yesterday, Ampang Jaya district police chief Mohamad Farouk Eshak said they were probing the molest allegations which were claimed to have taken place at the woman’s family home in Kuala Lumpur.
The woman filed the report on March 16, stating that she was molested by the suspect around July or August last year.
Police said the woman stated she was unsure of what action to take because the suspect was an influential politician from a state in the east coast. - FMT
