Youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh said the ministry’s facilities would be listed on its website next week. (Bernama pic)PORT KLANG: The youth and sports ministry will release an inventory detailing all the facilities owned and maintained by the ministry on its website next week.
Youth and sports minister Hannah Yeoh said this was to make it easier for those wishing to use its facilities.
“For example, there are sports associations that are looking for a hall, they can go directly to our inventory website,” she said at a breaking of fast event in Port Klang.
Ads by KioskedYeoh said the inventory list would also make it easier for national sports associations that did not have training centres to use the ministry’s facilities.
At the event, Yeoh also presented a RM20,000 grant to the Malaysian Cricket Association (MCA) to help it organise tournaments for sports development purposes.
MCA president Iqbal Ali Kassim Ali said that if it was able to have its own training ground, it could help the men’s squad, currently ranked 27th in the world, as well as the women’s squad (ranked 28th in the world) to succeed.
“We just moved here (Bayuemas Oval) in August last year and little by little we have made improvements according to our needs. It is sad to have to leave Kinrara Oval, Puchong, after being there for 18 years.
“I am confident that if we have our own site to practice, this sport will definitely be able to stand out more,” he said.
Separately, speaking about the national cricket squad’s preparation for the SEA Games in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, he said the team was ready to perform at the biennial games with the men’s squad capable of bringing home at least three medals. - FMT
