A spokesman said the ministry had dispatched its enforcement officers to the Original Penang Kayu Nasi Kandar restaurant in SS2 after learning of the charge
“The minister (Saifuddin Nasution Ismail) just brought this up at the post-Cabinet meeting and instructed the enforcement division to look into it,” said the spokesman
A picture of a receipt from the restaurant has been making its rounds on WhatsApp, showing the imposition of the 20 sen charge
When contacted, the restaurant’s manager, Mohamad Sajahan, confirmed that it had imposed the 20 sen charge, explaining this was due to the sudden water cut it experienced last night, ahead of water disruption in many parts of Selangor
“Around 7pm, there was no water suddenly, so we had to use plastic cups and plates,” he told FMT, adding the charge was because they had to buy the cups, plates and cutlery
“But now there is a bit of water and we are using our regular cups and plates, so there are no more charges.”Some four million people in the Klang Valley are facing dry taps as 577 areas experience a temporary water supply disruption from April 24-27 due to improvement works on the water supply system at the Sungai Selangor Phase 2 Water Treatment Plant (LRA SSP2). - FMT
