Mic Mca To Be Given Winnable Seats In State Polls Says Zahid
BN chairperson Ahmad Zahid Hamidi gave his assurance today that the coalition will field candidates from MCA and MIC in the upcoming state elections.
Zahid added that the candidates will be given winnable seats.
“We are almost at the end of finalising the distribution of seats among BN and Pakatan Harapan. Also, MCA and MIC will have a place and we will give them seats to contest.
“I hope this erases any rumour that BN component parties are being sidelined.
“Hence, I would like to give this assurance to BN component parties. As for our friends in Harapan, we have left that to Harapan chairperson (Anwar Ibrahim) and their respective party presidents to decide,” he was quoted as saying by Utusan Malaysia.
He said this during a press conference after the launch of the Madani TVET portal.
Malaysiakini reported earlier today that MIC deputy president M Saravanan denied his party being allocated any seat to contest in Selangor during the upcoming state election.
He said earlier reports claiming otherwise were inaccurate, adding that MIC has requested the Sentosa state seat.
His comments came after Selangor MIC chief MB Raja told reporters that the party would be contesting in the state election after a Selangor BN meeting in Shah Alam.
Seat distributions between Harapan and BN are still being finalised, but Malaysiakini was made to understand that at least 11 seats have been allocated to the latter.
Zahid said seat distributions will be finalised at the discretion of the prime minister.
“I don’t think it will be too long. I'm sure it will be finalised when the prime minister determines it,” he said. - Mkini
