Mco Arrest Boy Playing Sepak Takraw Man Out Playing Badminton
KUANTAN: A teenager who was out playing sepak takraw with his friends has been arrested for not obeying the movement control order (MCO)
Pekan OCPD Supt Mohd Razli Mohd Yusof said the 16-year-old boy was spotted playing with several others on Lorong Jemuduk, Perumahan Komuniti Bersepadu Kuala Pahang at about 7.20pm on Thursday (March 26)
"When the authorities approached them, the boys ran away through the alleys of the houses. Only one of them did not manage to flee
"His excuse when questioned was that he wanted to buy medicine at a nearby store. However, he was actually playing sepak takraw when caught," said Supt Mohd Razli
He added that the teenager failed to give a reasonable excuse and was arrested for negligent behaviour that could spread a life-threatening disease
Meanwhile, a 26-year-old man was detained by police at the Km12 Jalan Pekan/Kuantan roadblock for failing to abide by the MCO
Supt Mohd Razli said the man, who was riding a motorcycle, had been ordered to stop as he was riding against traffic at about 9.30pm on Thursday (March 26)
"When questioned why he was out during the MCO, the man said he was returning from hanging out at his friend's house in Kampung Langgar Pekan and playing badminton," he said
The authorities contacted the Covid-19 control post, which ordered the arrest of the man, said Supt Mohd Razli
The two of them are being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code or Regulation 7 (1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures within the infected local areas) Regulations 2020. - Star
