Matta Fair To Make Comeback After Two Year Hiatus

(Bernama pic)KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents (Matta) Fair, Malaysia’s largest travel fair, will make a comeback on Nov 20 and 21 after a two-year hiatus because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The last edition of the fair was held in September 2019.
Matta honorary secretary-general Nigel Wong said the association was looking forward to the kick-off of domestic tourism to help jumpstart the economy, adding that the travel fair was one of the ways to do it.
The fair, which will be held at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) will also be represented by international tourism organisations from South Korea, Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan, Turkey and Uganda, among others, he said in an online press conference today.

Matta chief executive officer Phua Tai Neng said in a statement the 49th edition of Matta Fair will be held on a smaller scale and will occupy Halls 3 and 4 of the WTCKL.
Hall 4, known as Malaysia Hall, would house all state tourism organisations and domestic travel and tourism products, while international tourism players would be in Hall 3.
Phua said the fair had received strong support from state tourism organisations in Sabah, Terengganu, Sarawak, Pahang, Selangor, Johor, Kedah, Perak and Negeri Sembilan.
He said that after 21 months of lockdowns that severely affected the travel and tourism industry, the Matta Fair was a significant indicator that the country’s tourism industry was back.
Phua urged visitors not to bring young children to the fair as advised by the health ministry.
“Admission is free and the fair is open from 10am to 8pm,” he said. - FMT
