Mat Sabu Amanah Rejects Pn Politics That Sideline Minorities
Amanah strongly opposes the identity politics and divide and conquer policies practised by Perikatan Nasional, said party president Mohamad Sabu.
“Amanah opposes the discrimination of minorities, as well as their domination in the name of racial supremacy.
“Amanah rejects identity politics that divides and conquers, as well as spooks the Malays and Muslims by saying that their position and interests are under threat,” he said.
Mohamad was giving his policy speech at the launching of the party’s National Convention 2023 at the Wyndham Acmar Hotel in Klang, Selangor, today.
According to him, PN’s “extreme” religious beliefs ignore the country’s multi-racial and multi-ethnic makeup.
He said toxic and extreme politics practised by the opposition will push the country into an endless conflict for power.
Mohamad, also known as Mat Sabu, slammed the opposition for “riding” race and religious narratives for political gain, including by declaring their political opponents kafir (infidels).
On the other hand, Amanah champions a progressive and inclusive ideology, which is in line with the Federal Constitution, and Pakatan Harapan’s ideals, he added.
“Therefore, I’m confident that Amanah has great potential and a role in the future to help steer the country together with its partners in Harapan, and in recent days, in the coalition government.
“Those who really know the importance of political stability and racial harmony, will take a centrist, moderate, and progressive stance in their struggles,” said Mohamad.
The convention was also attended by senior leaders in the coalition government, including DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke, PKR vice-president Amirudin Shari, as well as PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil.
Also present were BN secretary-general Zambry Abd Kadir, and Umno supreme council member Ahmad Maslan.
Coalition government senior leaders at Amanah Congress todayCommenting on this, Mohamad said never in his wildest dreams did he think that Umno representatives would share the stage with Amanah.
Delegates of the convention were also shown a video of the ongoing war in Gaza.
Mohamad slammed Arab countries which do not play an active role in helping Palestinians, and lauded Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s act of criticising the US for delaying the United Nations’ Gaza ceasefire resolution.
“Arab countries are still slow, but African and left-wing countries are very vocal in opposing Israel’s ethnic cleansing.” - Mkini
