Mahathir Crime Is The Alliance Trying To Bring Down Azmin

Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad today said the crime in the sex video implicating Azmin Ali is that there is an alliance to bring down the economic affairs minister
"I see it as a political move, not because there is a crime
"The crime is the alliance that is trying to bring down Azmin," he told journalists at the Parliament lobby today
Mahathir's made this comment despite PKR president Anwar Ibrahim stressing that police should not only look at who circulated the sex video but also whether it was authentic. Last month, former Santubong PKR Youth chief Haziq Abdullah Abdul Aziz admitted that he was the man in a sex video and implicated Azmin as his male partner.Azmin (below), who is also the PKR deputy president, had dismissed the allegation as slander and said it was an attempt to destroy his political career
Mahathir said he is puzzled that someone would admit to being part of the sex video
"That is puzzling. Normally people would want to hide such things. They would be ashamed but not in this case," he said
Asked about Anwar's suggestion that Azmin should resign if the video is proven to be true, Mahathir emphasised on the precondition mentioned by Anwar. "He said if it is true. If it is true, then yes. But he did not say immediately," said the Langkawi MP
Police have arrested several individuals suspected of circulating the sex video
Among those arrested are Haziq and an aide to Anwar
Meanwhile, PKR's Kapar MP Abdullah Sani Abdul Hamid, an Anwar ally, said Azmin should go on leave immediately
"Even though the PKR president had said he can remain for now, but for me, as a subject of investigation, it is better that he takes leave," he told journalists at the Parliament lobby
Sani claimed that he had no problems with Azmin but was speaking up for what is right. - Mkini
