EmEmKay: MACC has no more excuses and is now at a critical juncture in its handling - or lack thereof - of the Sabah corruption scandal.
For months, the public has watched in frustration as the MACC appeared hesitant to pursue a full investigation into the matter, despite mounting allegations and evidence.
However, that hesitation can no longer be justified, as the commission is set to receive the full, unedited videos related to the scandal.
This development leaves the MACC with no room for excuses. The public will not accept claims that the videos are unclear, that the USB drive containing the evidence is faulty, or any other technical or procedural delays.
The expectation is clear: the MACC must act swiftly and transparently to investigate the allegations and hold those responsible accountable.
The Sabah corruption scandal has already cast a dark shadow over governance and public trust.
The allegations involve serious misconduct, and any further delay in addressing them would only deepen the perception of selective enforcement and erode confidence in the MACC’s commitment to fighting corruption. The agency’s credibility is on the line.
The ball is now firmly in the MACC’s court. With the full videos in its possession, the commission must demonstrate that it is not beholden to political interests or external pressures.
Malaysians are watching closely, and they deserve answers - not excuses!
Cogito Ergo Sum: MACC will still say there is “insufficient evidence” to act. They may also say "the video is not clear".
No matter what anyone does, MACC and others in power have decided no wrong has been done by the subjects of the videos.
Only the whistleblower will be hauled up and charged for giving bribes. I hope I am wrong.
FitnessPro: The people of Sabah deserve righteousness and justice due to them. They have been living in poverty for so long, sheltered from what is truly happening around them.
Their state resources should have freed them from poverty and rural living. The people who denied them a decent life must face the full wrath of the law.
They should be punished for denying the Sabahans their rights to resources entitled to them.
Leaders who are self-centered and power-centered do not deserve to lead Sabah. Leaders who deny Sabahans from the truth do not deserve Sabah. Sabahans deserve better.
Vroom: Madani cannot rock the Sabah fixed deposit vote bank. So, they will delay this as much as possible with all sorts of excuses.
The Madani government is not serious about fighting corruption as it is about keeping Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in power.
Turnback: MACC may not have room to manoeuvre but our PM may be the mastermind behind the twists and turns or the reason why no action is taken.
Didn't our PM mention that the whistleblower is not protected if he goes directly to the media? Indirectly, is Anwar trying to stop the scandal from being publicly exposed?
BobbyO: MACC knows very well the authenticity of the accusations and the videos given to them.
MACC also knows that it can do nothing to create a problem for the unity government. Taking action would mean destabilising the present administration.
So no action will be taken until the Sabah polls are held. It might be done sooner as the pressure mounts for Anwar to keep his word that he will not tolerate corruption.
As October is the cut-off date for the polls, now it will be moved forward, as the pressure mounts or builds up for the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah administration.
The outcome of the election will decide on the next course MACC will take.
GrayParrot9290: Sabahans already know who to vote in the coming state election. Please do not vote for the peninsular-based parties.
On the contrary, East Malaysian parties, especially from Sarawak, should go all out in the 16th general election to contest in all seats and kick out both useless and untrustworthy unity government members especially Anwar, PKR and Perikatan National.
You will have 99 percent of non-Malays and progressive bumiputera votes, these are voters who are just waiting for the third option.
ScarletPanda9731: Singapore leaders will never tolerate any corruption. They will never compromise. Even their own minister was investigated and jailed. Unless we have no nonsense leaders, the nation will go downhill.
The whole world is watching. It is useless to trumpet to the world that we will be relentless in our pursuit of the corrupted when actions do not match words. Practise what you preach. Straight talk and straight action. - Mkini
