Ingrid Persaud's LOVE AFTER LOVE, about an unsettled domestic violence survivor, her angry and confused teen, and their lodger - who form an unconventional family, loving each other deeply, until one fateful night when a secret is uncovered with heart-breaking consequences, to Nicole Counts at One World.
If I'm not mistaken, this is my second time reading a Carribean literature. Honestly, Love After Love is quite an enjoyable read that has a theme on love, family, and friendship; to find love
To be honest, I do struggled with the writing and story. It has lost me several times throughout the book. Despite that, I still want to continue my read. Betty has suffered for years and years of been abused by the husband. After the death of her husband, Betty is no longer the same person as she was before. She is practically decides to enjoy her life by getting to know more people. Solo is Betty's son. He was kind of annoying. I was irritated by his behaviour most of the times. I'm sorry I couldn't help it. But somehow, I do understand why he behave that way. And then, there is Mr. Chetan. A solo bachelor who is renting a room in Betty's house.
The story plot was an okay to me. The story is not only focused on finding love, romance but it also covers tragedy, loss, and sadness around these characters. The only things that I have not prepared I have no idea about it at all was the intercourse scene. It kind of shocks me a bit. Overall, it was an okay story to me.
Book is available at all good bookstores.
