Long Weekend Ii Proudmommoment Maulidur Rasul And In Between
It's not too late to wish everyone a heartfelt Salam Maulidur Rasul, is it? Another long weekend just flew by, and for us, it was mostly a 🏡 stay-at-home kind of affair and I basically lived in the kitchen and laundry room all weekend
The Weekend in a Nutshell (or, a Laundry Basket)Friday was a cooking marathon. We kicked off the day with nasi lemak, which is always a hit. For lunch, I cooked up some telur masak sambal and kobis lemak putih. But the real highlights were Iman's Oreo cheesecake and Fateh's chocolate lava cake—they requested them, so of course, I had to deliver. Dinner was a lighter affair with miso soup and chicken teriyaki. Honestly, I spent the whole day just cooking and baking, back to back
In the evening, Atok made a quick stop. He brought us fresh jambu and pisang straight from his kebun, as he always does. I must admit, I felt a pang of guilt. He's been texting and calling so many times, inviting us balik kampung. But you know how it is—time 🕒 is just never enough. The boys are so swamped with their weekend activities, and with schedules constantly shifting, we often have to skip one thing just to make it to another. Adoi.
On Saturday, the kids had their Maulidur Rasul celebration, and while they were gone, guess who was back on 🧼 laundry duty? Yours truly. Honestly, I found myself doing laundry two days straight sepanjang hari. The reason? The boys, Adam and Yusuf, decided to mix ALL the clean and dirty clothes in the basket. Semua bercampur! 🥲 (Just for the record, Adam and Yusuf share their room, while Iman and Fateh share a room). My reaction? I was just too tired to even lecture them. I simply washed everything again and gave them a stern warning. Because let's be real, it's not the washing machine that gets tired, it's the constant cycle of sorting and re-washing, K
#ProudMomMoment 🌟The Maulidur Rasul celebration was a huge success. The boys participated in everything—Hafazan, Tilawah, Nasyid, Fardu Ain, Khat—and had their exams. As usual, all of them won something, but this year was extra special. Iman and Fateh swept most of the awards, including "Pelajar Terbaik Keseluruhan"! Alhamdulillah, sejuk perut Ibu mengandung. 🥹
The RM50 ChallengeRemember the RM50 challenge I started last week? I told the boys anyone who can memorize either Surah Al-Mulk or Al-Kahfi gets RM50 💵, no questions asked. Well, Adam took the bait and won! He finished memorizing Surah Al-Kahfi, so I handed him the RM50. His siblings’ eyes nearly popped out of their heads. Iman immediately said, "Jealousnya Adam dapat hafal Surah Al-Kahfi, Iman nak RM50 juga," And later, while I was folding clothes, Yusuf came up to me with his memorization card and said, "Yusuf jealous Adam dapat RM50. Ibu boleh check kan hafazan Yusuf tak?" It was so cute
I told them, "All of you have a fair chance. If you want it, you have to work for it. Ibu still have another RM50 for another winner," I could literally see the determination ignite in their eyes. I love a good sibling competition (the healthy kindlah!). Fateh even took his hafazan card to bed with him. That's how serious he is
As for Adam, he said he wants to save up for a power bank that costs over RM100. I just let him be. I’ll keep his money safe for him until he saves up enough. There are definitely cheaper options out there, but I'll let him learn that lesson himself
The Boarding School Plan 🏫Speaking of Adam, I’ve applied to a few boarding schools for him, but I'm still on the fence. My plan is to give it a shot. I told him, "If you don't like it, or if there's any hint of a bullying situation #iykyk, just pack your bags and come home," If asrama life isn’t for him, it’s not for him. Period. Maybe we'll give it a good six months to see how it goes
My Green Thumb Journey 🪴I'm not sure what it is—maybe it’s a hormonal shift, or maybe I’m just feeling extra "mom-ish" lately—but I'm obsessed with turning tanah kita yang sekangkang kera. Right now, my "collection" includes bunga telang, daun sup, pegaga, cherry tomatoes, ulam raja, cili, mint, limau kasturi, and pokok kari. My ketumbar seedlings 🌱 are still tiny, and I'm patiently waiting for my daun bawang and serai to grow more roots before I transfer them to bigger pots.
I’m thinking of adding daun cekur, pandan and kucai to the collection, and I also need to repot some of my plants that have gotten too big for their current homes. Maybe another monstera or some other indoor plant to spruce up the living area? We'll see
The MyKasih EffectYesterday, we went to Lotus for our weekly grocery haul, and the crowd was insane! We couldn’t even find a parking spot. Sudahnya pusing punya pusing, kita tak pergi pun. Looks like the MyKasih crowd is still doing their shopping rounds. We ended up going to Econsave, but it was just as packed. Funny how we go grocery shopping every week even though we can just order online. But let's be real, grocery shopping is our therapy, right? We need it
And just like that, the next long holiday is just around the corner! Tak Sabar! ❤️
