Loke Malaysia Has Counter Proposed Singapore With Shorter Suspension Period For Ils
PETALING JAYA: Malaysia has issued a counter proposal to Singapore to shorten the suspension period of the restricted area over Pasir Gudang and the new landing procedures at Seletar Airport, says Anthony Loke
The Transport Minister said his Singaporean counterpart Khaw Boon Wan had proposed that the ILS suspension period be extended to May 31 during a meeting on Wednesday (Jan 23)
However, Loke said after meeting with the Cabinet on Thursday (Jan 24), Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had said that the period was too long and had requested for the time period to be shortened
"This morning, I contacted the Singapore High Commissioner in Kuala Lumpur to counter propose to shorten the duration to March 31.
"This is the counter proposal from our side and I have notified them," he said during a press conference at the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) office on Friday (Jan 25).
Loke added that it will be up to the Singapore government to decide if they would agree to the proposal."If they agree then we can have a written agreement to state that both sides agree on the suspension of the ILS and the restricted area to March 31," he said
Khaw on his Facebook page had said that Singapore had suggested extending the mutual suspension of Malaysia's Restricted Area (RA) over Pasir Gudang and Singapore's ILS procedures at Seletar Airport
On Jan 8, Malaysia and Singapore agreed for both sides to immediately and simultaneously suspend Malaysia's permanent RA over Pasir Gudang and Singapore's ILS procedures for Seletar Airport for a period of one month.-Star
