Ling S Family Waited For Police Update Regarding Abduction Lawyer
A legal counsel for the family of Pamela Ling today said their nearly month-long silence before revealing her disappearance was due to an initial police report lodged over her alleged abduction on April 9.
Speaking to Malaysiakini, lawyer Sangeet Kaur Deo said they were left waiting for updates from the police.
“The family felt that, as they had lodged a police report initially, that would have the police acting on it.
“But they were not receiving updates thereafter… Also they feared the risk of jeopardising investigations in the early stages,” she added.

Pamela LingSangeet was responding to PSM deputy chairperson S Arutchelvan, who earlier today questioned the family’s initial silence.
“It is now almost a month, and it puzzles me why only now the family has made this public? Who advised the family to be silent on this?” said deputy chairperson S Arutchelvan.
He also urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to address concerns about the deep state’s involvement, following a Malaysiakini report that Ling, the wife of businessperson Thomas Hah, was abducted by individuals wearing police vests.
“The answer from the top guns of the police force is not convincing at all. The public needs answers.
“The prime minister and the home minister (Saifuddin Nasution Ismail) need to answer if the police force has gone rogue or is still under state purview,” he added in a statement.

PSM deputy chairperson S ArutchelvanReferring to Suhakam pointing the finger at the police Special Branch in the disappearances of Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat, Arutchelvan noted that Ling’s case bore a striking resemblance to both incidents.
“It is time the prime minister directly addresses the nation on this,” he reiterated.
Intercepted by cars
ADSOn May 2, Ling’s family revealed that the 42-year-old woman, who is a Datin Seri, had been abducted while using the Grab e-hailing service to travel to MACC to have her statement taken.
The family claimed that the Grab car she was in had been intercepted by three unidentified vehicles, and she was instructed to enter one of them.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Rusdi Isa said the case is being investigated under Section 365 of the Penal Code for abduction or kidnapping with intent to wrongfully confine a person.
Regarding the allegation that those involved were wearing police vests, he stated that this aspect is also under investigation.
Ling and her husband are under investigation under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.
Hah has yet to make a statement on his wife’s disappearance. - Mkini
