Launch Of The Oxford Institute For British Islam

 There is an Islamic institute in the UK known as the  OXFORD INSTITUTE FOR BRITISH ISLAM. This is basically a Quran based institute which avoids sectarian religious thinking. This is in Britain so they are outside the clutches of the mullahs. Yesterday they had an official launching of the institute which was also online. If you are interested here is some intro as well as a video.  No one is forcing you to listen to this and no one is forcing you to make any kind of opinion about anything they may say.
There are some short speeches and a Q&A session at the end. One of the speakers Mr Paigham Mustafa is a very old friend of mine.

"The Oxford Institute for British Islam (OIBI) is the UK's first Muslim think tank and research academy.  After repeated postponements owing to the coronavirus pandemic, it's formal launch finally takes place at 5pm UK time on Tuesday, 24th May 2022 (last nite). This bold scholarly initiative advances an erudite, egalitarian and enlightened Islam, not the regressive, ritualistic and reactionary mutant pedalled by the ultra-conservative orthodox clergy.

By providing compelling theological validity and intellectual justification for an inclusive, integrated and 'indigenous' Islam, OIBI will facilitate effective Muslim involvement in the British mainstream without comprising Islamic affiliation or identity.


The key founders of this novel academic institute will outline the reasons and rationale, the vision and mission of the OIBI in reviving and restoring sole Qur'anic hegemony in confronting manufactured theology so that thinking UK Muslims can take their rightful place in society and politics. Come see and hear the pertinent plans and unique programmes of these leading scholars to champion a progressive, pertinent and pluralistic faith that is in full conformity with the original ordinances of Islam. OIBI's formal launch will be held at St Peter's College, Oxford University. It will be a hybrid event welcoming physical attendance as well as online participation.
