Sabah Pakatan Harapan had said the state government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor would continue until its terms ends in 2025. - BERNAMA PICKOTA KINABALU: The "Langkah Kinabalu" bid to topple the Sabah government, if it materialised, would have tarnished the prime minister's effort to strengthen the unity government.
Kukusan assemblyman Rina Jainal said the move went against the people's aspirations for a stable government.
She said there would have been many negative outcomes if there was a change in the state government.
"It will not only impact Sabah and its people, it will also affect the good image of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who introduced the concept of the unity government.
"It indirectly tarnishes the image of the unity government," said Rina, who is the sole assemblyman from the Pakatan Harapan Rakyat Sabah party in the state.
After the 15th General Election (GE15), Barisan Nasional, Parti Warisan, Gabungan Rakyat Sabah and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat pledged to support Anwar's unity government.
Sabah Pakatan Harapan had said the state government led by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor would continue until its terms ends in 2025, although Warisan kept silent about its support for the current state government.
Rina, who quit Warisan before GE15, said she hoped everyone would focus on state development instead of politicking.
"I believe the majority of Sabahans want the same thing, rather than a change in leadership.
"It is important that we prove Sabah's sovereignty is not so easily threatened by anyone." - NST
