Labuan Police Take 68 Year Old Man In For Covid 19 Screening

CORONAVIRUS | The police have confirmed that its officers were roped in to bring an uncooperative man for Covid-19 health screening in Labuan
Labuan District police chief Muhamad Farid Ahmad confirmed several video clips circulated on social media showing health officers and police officers in protective equipment taking in a 68-year-old man
In a statement today, he said the police officers and a team from Labuan Hospital have carried out the operation by force against the man residing at a flat in Bebuluh, Labuan
Muhamad Farid said minimum force was used in the operation as stated under the Section 15(2) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, which allows authorised officers to adopt force to ensure the compliance of the order
He said the main is the father and first contact of a tabligh committee member who was involved in the tabligh gathering at Sri Petaling mosque and lived together with the son
"He is needed to show up at Labuan Hospital for health screening and quarantine," he said
The Labuan police chief said the man ignored an order for him to present himself voluntarily at the hospital on March 17
Two days later, a health officer showed up at the man's house to ask him to go for health screening but he was uncooperative
"As such, the Labuan Health Department requested the help from the police to carry out the order and task," he said, adding that three police personnel were deployed
As of yesterday, the country recorded a total of 900 Covid cases with two deaths
The tabligh gathering cluster formed the largest comprising 576 cases and one death. Of this, five of the cases are from Labuan. - Mkini
