Kyrgyz Woman Blasts Assault Probe Delay Pahang Palace Denies Link
Shaparova Mia, 34, a citizen of the Kyrgyz Republic, alleged that she was physically assaulted by her former partner, whom she claims is connected to the Pahang royal family.
ADSShe also claimed to have a three-year-old son from the relationship with the man, which she says began in 2021.
“In December 2023, I accidentally bumped into him in a public place. I was alone, while he was accompanied by others. I approached him and calmly asked if he wanted to meet his child.
“I didn’t shout. I didn’t insult anyone. I only asked one question.
“As a result, I was called derogatory names and accused of doing things I didn’t do. I was physically injured, my phone was damaged, and I sustained injuries,” she said at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today, accompanied by her lawyer, Goh Cia Yee.
According to Shaparova, the incident prompted her to file a police report and seek hospital treatment.

Shaparova Mia (right) and her lawyer Goh Cia Yee“The incident was recorded on closed-circuit television (CCTV), and I have cooperated fully with the authorities by providing evidence.
“However, nearly two years have passed. Two years of waiting in silence. Three years of raising a child alone, emotionally, financially, and physically. While others carry on with their lives, I’m still waiting for protection and justice.
“Why hasn’t my case progressed further? Why is justice so slow? Is this a system that women in Malaysia can trust?” she questioned.
Malaysiakini approached the Pahang palace for comment on Shaparova’s allegations.
A palace source rejected her claims that the man is a member of the royal household.
“If you want to say he’s royalty, no. Because he doesn’t have the title ‘Yang Mulia Tengku’,” the source told Malaysiakini.
Pledges to continue speaking out
ADSSpeaking to journalists, Shaparova revealed that early in her pregnancy, both she and the man were detained by police in connection with a separate matter.
She said she was then imprisoned while expecting.
“I took legal responsibility (was imprisoned), while he remained outside to help, but I was jailed while pregnant.
“When I was released, although alone and four months pregnant, I chose to end the relationship.
“I didn’t ask for more than basic responsibility towards our child, financial support if possible, and occasional visits, but he wouldn’t take responsibility,” said the woman who claims to have been living in Malaysia for seven years as a student.
Shaparova added she is speaking out to represent every woman who feels powerless, unsupported, or silenced due to the influence of those involved.
“Is this the Malaysia we should accept, where justice can be postponed indefinitely? I’m no longer afraid. I won’t remain silent. I will continue speaking out until my child and I are heard.
“Justice delayed is justice denied. I deserve better. My child deserves better. All women in Malaysia deserve better,” she said.
Meanwhile, Goh confirmed her client’s case has been referred to the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC), though no progress has been communicated thus far.
Malaysiakini has also contacted AG Dusuki Mokhtar for comments on Shaparova’s allegations, but had not received a response at the time of publication. - Mkini
