Ku Nan Mahathir Once Asked Me To Rescue Him From Dap Amanah
Former premier Dr Mahathir Mohamad once sought Umno treasurer Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor's help to "rescue him" from Pakatan Harapan's component parties, the latter has claimed.
"When Harapan led the country for 22 months, Mahathir was appointed the prime minister, but just as a puppet, to the extent that he sought my help to 'rescue' him and leave Umno.
"Come here help me, I can't stand with the cabinet. I can't take it from DAP and Amanah. Mahathir himself gave up on them," Umno Online quoted the incumbent Putrajaya MP saying while officiating the Putrajaya Umno division meeting on Sunday.
However, Tengku Adnan said he refused to leave Umno as he did not want to betray the party.
"I said no, I do not want to leave Umno, or betray the party's logo. Not because the party has given me anything, but because my grandparents were in the party, which has given us a stable administration," claimed the former minister, who's better known as Ku Nan.
He further alleged that the "mess" created by Harapan's 22-month rule is seen until today.
"The country has turned topsy-turvy. The same with the government led by Perikatan Nasional (PN). And we ended up going back to BN-Umno after just 13 months (of PN rule)."
Tengku Adnan urged the Umno grassroots to continue championing the Malay race, religion, and the country, to ensure Umno and BN secure a victory in the 15th general election.
"We have young voters now, so I plead to parents here to explain to their children who would be voting for the first time, to vote for Umno-BN so that their children and grandchildren's futures are secured." - Mkini
