Klang River Water Level Exceeds Danger Level

SHAH ALAM: The water level of the Klang River has surpassed the danger threshold and continues to rise due to heavy rainfall that has persisted since Tuesday evening (April 15).
Sinar Harian reported that, according to the official Public Banjir website of the Irrigation and Drainage Department, as of 8.15pm, the water level at the Bandar Klang Station was 3.11 meters, exceeding the danger level of 3 meters.
The website also reported that four rivers in the state, Sungai Bernam, Sungai Rasau, Tugu Keris Station, and Sungai Kuang, have recorded water levels above the alert level.
Earlier, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) issued a thunderstorm warning that affects nearly the entire country, expected to last until 9pm on Tuesday. The warning, which was issued at 5.45pm, covers all of Selangor.
In light of the continuous heavy rainfall, the Shah Alam City Council has advised residents within its jurisdiction to remain vigilant and prepared. It has also urged the public to monitor the water levels in their respective neighbourhoods and to take precautionary measures.
"Residents are also urged to follow the authorities' instructions, especially if they are advised to relocate to the designated temporary settlement centres (PPS)," the statement said.

The city council reassured the public that the situation was being monitored and that any updates would be communicated through the local authorities' official channels.
Last Friday, Shah Alam, Petaling, and Klang experienced flash floods, affecting at least 137 individuals.
