Kl Tower S Revolving Restaurant Ordered To Vacate Shuts Operations
KL Tower’s revolving restaurant, Atmosphere 360, has shut down its operations after being ordered to vacate its premises by Jan 4, 2024.
According to a notice issued by the Kuala Lumpur High Court, Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd and its current owner Hydroshoppe Sdn Bhd sought the order to vacate against Asian Kitchen Sdn Bhd, which owns Atmosphere 360.
Asian Kitchen Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Ringo Kaw confirmed the matter to Free Malaysia Today, stating that he was shocked upon receiving the notice.
“The High Court’s bailiffs appeared in our restaurant yesterday morning and ordered us to shut down, and there were a lot of customers dining at the time.
“Christmas and New Year celebrations are around the corner and our reservations have been extended to next year. So we have no choice but to offer our customers a refund. I feel really helpless.
“We hope the authorities can treat us fairly,” he was quoted as saying.
Kaw added that previous management had verbally promised a three-year extension to the restaurant’s tenancy before Hydroshoppe took over management.
Kaw said that he would seek legal action on the matter.
Hydroshoppe managing director Abdul Hamid Shaikh Abdul Razak Shaikh, whose company had taken over the concession for the maintenance of KL Tower, was charged with bribery amounting to RM7.5 million.
Hamid had allegedly offered RM500,000 a year for 15 years to former communications and multimedia minister Annuar Musa through MyCreative Ventures director Tan Ser Lay to expedite a proposed sale of shares and the concession takeover from Menara Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd.
The alleged deal was said to have happened before the 15th general election on Nov 19, 2022.
