Kelantan Delegate Alleges Plot To Disrupt Amanah State Leadership
Amanah’s top leaders have been urged to look into allegations of a movement seeking an immediate party election at the Kelantan level to be rid of the existing state party leadership.
In raising the matter at the Amanah National Convention today, Kelantan delegate Che Ibrahim Mohamad revealed that 17 individuals were leading the movement.
He claimed the individuals involved have already prepared statutory declarations with the purpose of disrupting the party at the state level.
“One of the reasons we opposed the Sheraton Move was that it was a betrayal of the rakyat’s mandate, taking the power to rule not through the proper channel, which is an election.
“We are disappointed, which is why we rejected the Sheraton Move and if we do not agree with the Sheraton Move, why are we allowing a movement that is threatening to undermine the integrity of Amanah?” he questioned when debating the party president’s speech at the convention in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
However, Che Ibrahim did not reveal the individuals allegedly responsible for the movement.
Instead, he questioned the actions of those individuals he described as “impatiently waiting to be a leader”.
“If you want an election, wait for the election season,” he said.
It was reported earlier that Amanah will postpone its party election, which was originally set for the end of this year, to 2024.
Amanah secretary-general Hatta Ramli said the postponement will allow the party election to be held as late as June 2024 and the Registrar of Societies has approved the postponement.
The first Amanah election was held at the Amanah National Convention in December 2019. - Mkini
