Kedah Mb To Give Police Statement Over Alleged Sop Breach
Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor will have his statement recorded by the police this afternoon for breaching total lockdown SOPs by allegedly test driving a vehicle at a showroom in Penang.
Sanusi (above) said he will give full cooperation and is prepared to face any possibility after being investigated by the police.
Recounting the incident which took place yesterday afternoon, he said he was on his way to Kuala Lumpur together with a driver and an escort to attend a meeting with investors.
"On the way, we stopped by at a convenience shop at Autocity (Juru) to buy food. While waiting for the driver to buy food, I greeted a salesperson who was arranging vehicles there," he was quoted by Utusan Malaysia as saying.
"The salesperson, who is known as Ong, was friendly at first as he was not aware that I am the menteri besar. We chatted about the vehicles he was selling before I requested to look at the interior (of the car) and sat at the front passenger seat," he said.
Sanusi added that his escort sat at the back of the vehicle as it was part of the security procedure.
"I did not test drive but it was the seller who drove the vehicle," he explained.
"After that, we checked out another variant of the same vehicle, but this time I did not get into the car. However, when the car door opened, I saw someone taking our pictures," he said, adding that he forgives the woman who circulated the images.
"It's just that she could have asked nicely what happened at that time and I could have answered nicely too," Sanusi added.
Yesterday, Seberang Prai Tengah police chief Shafee Abd Samad said the cops are probing the alleged breach of total lockdown involving the Kedah menteri besar.
The probe is being carried out under Section 269 of the Penal Code and Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within Local Infectious Areas) Regulations 2021.
This came after images and a video clip of Sanusi allegedly test driving a vehicle were circulated on the sixth day of the total lockdown.
