Judge Wants Zahid To Steer Clear Of Meetings After Another Covid 19 Exposure

High Court judge Collin Lawrence Sequerah wants Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to refrain from attending meetings a week before any hearing of his graft trial.
This was after the case was postponed yet again following Zahid's exposure to a Covid-19 patient and could not attend court.
"Can I ask your client not to attend meetings a week before the case? Or else, this case will not end and keep dragging on.
"The last time, I had to postpone the case for the same reason. This problem keeps happening and we can't waste any more time.
"Please advise him not to attend meetings a week before his case in court. Because the trial is also important and should be a priority over other matters," he told Zahid's lawyer Hamidi Mohd Noh.

Earlier, Hamidi informed the court that Zahid was a close contact of Umno supreme council member Johan Abd Aziz.
"On Feb 19, Zahid chaired an Umno meeting at Janda Baik, Pahang. After the meeting, Johan was tested positive for Covid-19.
"He was tested on Saturday (Feb 20) and the results returned positive on Sunday (Feb 21).
"My client was a close contact and is now under quarantine. I request that the court postpone the hearing to another date," he said.
Hamidi added that Zahid is now wearing an orange tag and must undergo quarantine for 10 days.
Sequerah asked the defence team to submit Johan's Covid-19 test result as evidence that Zahid was exposed to a positive patient. 
The Bagan Datuk MP is facing 27 charges of money laundering, 12 charges of criminal breach of trust and eight charges of corruption involving funds of Yayasan Akalbudi, a charitable foundation he founded.
Previously, his trial was postponed in September last year after he was exposed to a Covid-19 patient during the Sabah election.
The case was postponed again in January when the movement control order was imposed on Jan 13. - Mkini
