It Was Not Just The Chinese Who Kicked Umno Out In 2018

Umno-Barisan Nasional fell in 2018 because of the Malay voters, not just because of the Chinese voters. The Chinese voters had already been voting against Umno-Barisan Nasional for more than ten years. NO HOLDS BARRED

Najib Tun Razak said he has no hard feelings against the Chinese for voting against Umno-Barisan Nasional in the May 2018 general election.
Actually, the non-Malays had voted against Umno-Barisan Nasional in the 2008 and 2013 general elections as well, not just in the 2018 general election. And expect this to continue in GE15 and thereafter.
And the reason Umno-Barisan Nasional got kicked out in 2018 is not just because of the non-Malay or Chinese votes. If not, Umno-Barisan Nasional would have been kicked out much earlier in 2008 or 2013.
The reason Umno-Barisan Nasional got kicked out in 2018 and not in 2008 or 2013 is because the Malay voters voted against Umno-Barisan Nasional.
In fact, soon after the 2013 general election Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad had already complained that Najib is wasting too much time trying to please the Chinese, who would NOT vote for Umno-Barisan Nasional anyway, and was neglecting Umno’s traditional support base, the Malays.

If the 1MDB allegation is fitnah, as Najb says, why did his boys not counter the allegations? So whose fault is it? When Mahathir said that, they accused him of being a racist. This has nothing to do with racism. It is the reality of politics. Even in the US they talk about the Irish vote, Black vote, Latino vote, Jewish vote, Muslim vote, and so on. How come when DAP boasts that they have 97% of the Chinese votes no one calls DAP a racist?
Najib was warned five years before GE14 that the Chinese will not vote Umno-Barisan Nasional and that he will need the Malay votes to win the election. Realising that the non-Malay votes are lost forever and that Umno-Barisan Nasional will need the Malay votes to stay in power, in 2015 a group in Umno started talking to PAS about forming an electoral pact for GE14.
For three years they talked, and PAS agreed to form this electoral pact with Umno-Barisan Nasional to avoid three-corner contests in the Malay seats. Intelligence reports said if Umno-Barisan Nasional did not avoid three-corner contests with PAS in the Malay heartland, they are going to win less than 85 seats, with Umno winning less than 60 seats. So the electoral pact was crucial.
The only thing left was to sort out how many seats Umno-Barisan Nasional and PAS would contest each, and where those seats were going to be. However, every time a meeting was scheduled, it was cancelled or postponed. This went on right up to GE14.

The Umno-PAS electoral pact agreed three years before GE14 was sabotaged by Najib’s boys  Finally, no meeting was ever held, and the electoral pact was aborted. And Umno-Barisan Nasional paid for this dearly.
So, this is not just about the Chinese voters, which is the impression Najib is giving in his “no hard feelings with the Chinese” statement today. This is about Umno being warned since 2013 and not taking this warning regarding the Malay voters.

Umno’s arrogance and not the Chinese caused Umno-BN to be kicked out in 2018 Umno boasts it has 3.5 million members. But in 2018 Umno garnered just 2.5 million votes. And not all the 2.5 million votes are from Umno members. So this means an estimated 1.5 million or 2 million Umno members did not vote for Umno-Barisan Nasional.
PAS has one million or so members, but they garnered two million votes. DAP has even less members than PAS, but they also garnered two million votes — the same thing with PKR as well, also two million votes. This means everyone else got more votes than the number of members they have. Only Umno garnered less votes than the number of members they have.
