It S 1mdb All Over Again With Fifa Sanctions
YOURSAY | Malaysia would be brought to worldwide shame if the charges are true.
FAM identifies 'technical error' behind document scandal
Vijay47: The pride we feel at national victory will be genuine only when the players wearing the Malaysian crest are true citizens, not a bunch of mercenaries out to make a quick buck out of naïve, ignorant and perhaps crooked individuals.
That other cheap countries indulge in this shameful practice is of no comfort or justification to us. Of the many who assumed citizenship in the last, say, five years, how many are still here?
In the recent badminton international tournaments, we stood by our players, win or lose. Because they did their best and were dyed in the wool Malaysians, not pretenders.
Unfortunately for the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), the International Federation of Association Football (Fifa) has now entered the field.
FAM is being accused not of error but of falsification, a far more serious allegation that would have been announced only after thorough investigation.
What would our officials say? They were initially adamant that they had stuck to the straight and narrow, as they always claim.
More importantly, what would Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail have to say now? He was quick to shoot off the hip to defend that the foreigners had been granted citizenship only after a thorough investigation. Really? Let us see.
If the Fifa charges are proven to be accurate, it would mean that once again Malaysia has been brought to worldwide shame and infamy, giving company to Jho Low, real name Low Taek Jho, the businessperson involved in the 1MDB scandal.
At that stage, Saifuddin, you have no choice but to hang your head in shame and resign along with the rest of the FAM Board.
Oct: There is a possibility of a technical error in the documents submitted to Fifa. These documents are not written in Bahasa Malaysia. Thus, the fault is with Fifa as it has been stressed all official documents with the government must be in BM.
It seems that all FAM officers who endorsed the documents to Fifa never made the effort to read the documents before signing and certifying that the information is factual and accurate. We cannot blame them as the clauses are not in BM.
FAM will ask Fifa to have their documents in BM so that there won’t be any technical errors. It is surprising that these players didn't qualify as permanent residents but instead became naturalised Malaysians in an “instant noodle” way.
In Malaysia, it is easier to blame the third party than to incriminate oneself. Nobody is at fault in Malaysia. It is always the SOP (standard operating procedure) and documents. This is the way of life in Malaysia. Shame is standard and acceptable. Honour is a difficult word to understand.
Falcon: After all the orchestrated blame games, denials, delusions, and attempts to deny liability, it is now “technical errors”?
Where do these people come from? What sort of leadership is this with zero integrity? Just resign. The powerful cartel of “untouchables”, please stay out!
Don't embarrass the nation in the eyes of the world with your opinion, exaggerations and self-serving self-righteousness! Malaysia needs better.
Meichi: Fortunately, PAS or Perikatan Nasional is not in control; otherwise, all blame will go to DAP. Please check if FAM officials are not opposition members. They could be up to some mischievous aims.
In Bolehland, where there is good money like FAM football, the vultures would come. Those with big titles. Meanwhile, sponsors can sue FAM for shirking responsibility.
Integrity stinks here. No accountability. FAM top board should quit and take responsibility. The facts have not been told of what was falsified or “cheated”.
Former premier Najib Abdul Razak is in prison for his involvement in 1MDB. Has he admitted? The same modus operandi appears to be at work in FAM soccer players alleged cheating case.
XED: FAM and the players concerned had disgraced the Malaysian flag. Will the flag experts declare war on them?
There are enforcement agencies which show limited knowledge and bravely wield the big stick against those who make a mistake but show no fault.
If this “Malaysian” football team were to win big, would the celebrations (including the sudden football holidays) happen in the players’ home countries?
Malaysia is a country that shows no class by trying to win honours and prizes through the back door. This is when many people have been born and have lived for a long time in this country, but languish helplessly with citizenship at the hands of a merciless bureaucracy.
MS: Knowing the characters involved in this citizenship and forgery scandal, it is clear why the crookedness is being trivialised as nothing more than a “technical error”.
Connecting the dots correctly, which is what Malaysians have learned to do after every betrayal of trust is exposed, will reveal how high this one goes and why even “citizenship” in the hands of Madani has become a tradable commodity. - Mkini
