Igp Says Police Confident Of Getting Jho Low Asks For Time
The police are confident they can bring back fugitive businessperson Low Taek Jho (Jho Low) to face the music here for his alleged role in the 1MDB scandal.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain assured that the police have never stopped investigating the case but asked to be given time to complete their task.
"If we can bring back Jasmine Loo, it is only a matter of time (to get Jho Low). The police have never stopped investigating the case," he told a press conference in Bukit Aman today.
Inspector-General of Police Razarudin HusainRazarudin was referring to Loo, an associate of Low who was arrested in Kuala Lumpur last Friday and remanded on Saturday.
She is being probed under Section 409 of the Penal Code, which pertains to a criminal breach of trust by a public servant or agent.
Loo was 1MDB's former executive director of group strategy and was alleged to be in Low's inner circle.
Asked about circumstances that led to Loo's arrest, Razarudin refused to divulge further details.
Jasmine LooAsked how the police managed to arrest Loo, the top cop said he cannot furnish too many details surrounding the arrest partly due to security reasons.
"I am disinclined to answer about this. Because we are concerned over whether she is a suspect or a witness… revealing such details can be dangerous to her.
"It can be dangerous to her safety... we are a law enforcement agency that is tasked with protecting people's lives and properties.
"So, we know what are the risks, and whatever information we have... it's not like we simply want to keep them a secret," he said.
Razarudin also told the media that he cannot answer questions regarding the whereabouts of Jho Low or in which country Loo was hiding, saying that it has to do with "police tactical move".
Revealing such information about any suspects, he stressed, would just tip off the persons concerned and aid them to evade authorities.
"How can I reveal to you where Jho Low is hiding now? I also never said anything about Loo's whereabouts, but still we managed to get her.
"If we reveal our investigation, it's akin to revealing our secret. The suspect will run away," he said. - Mkini
