I Never Agreed To Join Lingerie Maker Says Jovian Mandagie
Jovian Mandagie says he did not reach any agreement with Caely Holdings on its offer to make him its executive vice-chairman. (Facebook pic)PETALING JAYA: Jovian Mandagie, the prime minister’s son-in-law, has denied being appointed Caely Holdings new executive vice-chairman, saying the lingerie maker’s announcement on the matter was “false, untrue and misleading”.
In a filing with Bursa Malaysia on Tuesday, Caely announced Jovian’s appointment as its executive vice-chairman.
According to Jovian, he attended a meeting with Caely group executive chairman Loh Ming Choon on Monday in which he was offered the executive vice-chairman’s post to lead a revamp of the company’s garment division.
However, he said “no definitive verbal agreement” on Caely’s offer had been reached.
“I did not agree to accept the appointment as the executive vice-chairman of Caely,” Jovian said in a statement. “I wish to further emphasise that I have not executed any forms and/or agreements indicating my acceptance to the said appointment.
“Therefore, I hereby state that the announcement made by Caely in relation to my appointment is false, untrue and misleading to the public.”
The fashion designer said Caely’s announcement had tarnished his “corporate, business and personal reputation”.
“I will be seeking legal advice on this matter to pursue all means necessary to report such wrongdoing to the relevant authorities,” he said.
Caely, which is embroiled in a boardroom tussle, saw a board reshuffle on Wednesday that led to the removal of nine directors and the appointment of four new ones. - FMT
