Hold Lcs Inquiry Says Muhyiddin After Report Names Latiff
Muhyiddin Yassin (left) welcomes any investigation of allegations against Abd Latiff Ahmad in the navy ship controversy.PETALING JAYA: Bersatu chief Muhyiddin Yassin has repeated a call for a royal commission of inquiry into the littoral combat ship (LCS) scandal, amid claims that a minister from his party was involved.
He said while the said minister has denied such allegations, Bersatu welcomes any probe into the matter to ascertain if such claims were true.
This was after a PKR leader claimed special functions minister Abd Latiff Ahmad’s wife had purportedly misappropriated funds related to the LCS project. Latiff had since denied the claims repeatedly.
“I take seriously the findings of the forensic audit report that has been published on the LCS scandal which, among other things, raises allegations of the involvement of a minister from Bersatu in the scandal.

“As I have expressed before, the Cabinet should establish a royal commission of inquiry to investigate this scandal more thoroughly,” Muhyiddin said in a statement.
PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli claimed a woman by the name of Zainab Salleh had purportedly misappropriated funds for the RM9 billion LCS project.
He said the woman was Latiff’s second wife. However, Latiff has said he does not have a wife by that name.
Rafizi claimed that Zainab was the owner of two companies that had siphoned funds from the LCS project. He claimed the companies were appointed as technical consultants and suppliers of spare parts, adding that they had sent invoices for work that was never done.
Latiff is a minister with special functions in the current Cabinet. He was deputy defence minister from 2008 to 2013. - FMT
