Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has reminded the people to stay vigilant as more movements and activities are expected to take place in several states this Friday.
This follows the transition from the movement control order (MCO) to the conditional MCO in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Johor and Penang, as announced by Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Malacca, Pahang, Terengganu, Sabah, Putrajaya and Labuan will be placed under a recovery MCO beginning March 5 as well.
Inter-district travel will be allowed, but interstate travel remains prohibited.
"We are not out of the woods yet. Please be vigilant and comply with all public health measures.
"We must not let our guard down. We cannot afford another round of exponential surge of cases," the health director-general said in a posting on Facebook several hours after Ismail Sabri's announcement.
Noor Hisham also shared a graph showing the trending of Covid-19 cases in the country.
The graph showed that the number of active cases decreased around June 20 last year and was kept under 5,000 cases cumulatively until September.
In September, notably around Sept 26, the number of cases surged following the Sabah state polls.
The number of cases climbed up to 15,000 active cases before decreasing to 10,000 active cases. However, after the public was allowed cross-border travels around Dec 7, the cases soared up past 50,000 active cases.

The graph also projected that the number of active cases would drastically go down from March to single-digit cases in July with full compliance, but is projected to remain around 20,000 cases in late-August with moderate compliance to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
If compliance is poor, however, cases are projected to rise exponentially.
However, the chart also shows that the current decline in the number of active cases beats projections, for even the 'full compliance' scenario, leading to a sharper fall than predicted.
On previous occasions, Noor Hisham had said that the ministry expects new Covid-19 cases to fall below 1,000 cases per day in April and below 100 cases per day in May.
That is if the people still take the coronavirus seriously and continue to take precautions. - Mkini
