Harapan Set To Conclude Johor Seat Discussions This Week
Seat negotiations between Pakatan Harapan components and other opposition parties for the upcoming Johor polls are expected to be concluded this week, according to Amanah deputy president Salahuddin Ayub.
"Insya-Allah, (it will be) concluded within this week," he told Malaysiakini.
Salahuddin (above) said Harapan should learn a lesson from what happened in the Malacca and Sarawak state polls.
"Therefore, Harapan must not allow Umno and BN in Johor to repeat its past successes.
"Those involved in abuse of power, Umno that is saturated with leaders linked to kleptocracy and the court cluster, these individuals must be stopped from continuing to win big in Johor," he said.
"It is most important for us to realise that we should never allow ourselves to be agents of invisible hands that want to see us break apart, that want to see us fight among ourselves, and if this happens in seats we are contesting in, we will lose it all.
"Then, they will have the last laugh and Umno will once again loot and run Johor," said Salahuddin.
Commenting further, Salahuddin stressed it is of utmost importance for Harapan leaders to reach a consensus at the negotiation table with other opposition parties, namely Warisan, Muda and Pejuang.
"So we will look towards a bigger spectrum for us to defeat Umno and BN. We can win together," he said.
A Harapan source previously said that PKR and Amanah will each contest 20 seats while DAP will contest in 16 seats.
Pejuang previously stated its intention to contest in 42 out of 56 seats, while Warisan president Shafie Apdal has also indicated the Sabah-based party will make its peninsula debut in Johor, subject to discussion with Muda as its partner.
Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman earlier today said discussions are ongoing towards presenting a united opposition force in Johor. - Mkini
