Hamzah Voters Will Reject Umdap Govt Pn Umno A Strong Combo

AYER KUNING POLLS | Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin claimed that Ayer Kuning voters will vote for Perikatan Nasional to show their dissatisfaction with Umno forming the government with DAP.
ADSExpressing confidence that PN will pull votes from Umno loyalists displeased with DAP, he said voters would prefer Umno to join forces with PN instead.
“During our campaigning so far, many have informed us that initial supporters of Umno don’t agree with Umno and DAP’s alliance,” Hamzah told reporters while on the campaign trail with BN’s Ayer Kuning aspirant.
“(Umno’s) grassroots admit that if Perak sees an alliance between PN and Umno, it would be a strong combination for the future.
“I believe that if many share this view, God willing, they will give their votes to PN to send a signal to (Umno) leaders in rejecting ‘UmDAP’,” the Larut MP added.
“UmDAP” is a pejorative term used against Umno by its critics after the party joined forces with DAP to form the coalition government after the 2022 general election.
While BN previously held nine seats in the Perak state legislative assembly, the figure has gone down by one following the death of Ayer Kuning’s incumbent assemblyperson, Ishsam Shahruddin, on Feb 22, triggering the ongoing by-election.
Harapan holds 32 state seats to the 26 held by PN.
“If Umno joins PN (in the state assembly), our combined voice will be big enough to form a solid majority, thus making it easier for us to strive for the rakyat’s betterment,” Hamzah added.
Pig farm issue
Commenting on the pig farm issue PN has been highlighting throughout the by-election’s campaign period, the federal opposition leader stressed that the matter is a pressing concern among locals.
He also poured scorn on Perak Menteri Besar Saarani Mohamad’s apparent lacklustre response to claims made by PN on the matter, asserting that the menteri besar, who is from Umno, should show more care for residents’ tribulations.

ADS“However, this is a genuine local issue as there are too many pig farms in the area; Malays are questioning why the issue is being taken lightly by the menteri besar.
“Just because you’re having fun being the menteri besar, don’t forget your responsibility to ensure the rakyat’s welfare,” he added.
Previously, PAS vice-president Idris Ahmad said Saarani’s “deeply embarrassing” response to the alleged contamination of Sungai Bidor due to pollutants from a Kampung Poh pig farm did not sufficiently address critical claims made by PN.
Idris had taken issue with Saarani saying he was leaving it to state authorities to investigate PN’s claim that it possesses scientific evidence proving the river was polluted due to the pig farm’s irresponsible operations.
Ayer Kuning voters will cast their ballots this Saturday (April 26) after a two-week campaign period, during most of which PN raised various issues regarding pig farms in the Malay-majority state seat under the MIC-held Tapah parliamentary constituency.
PN is fielding Tapah PN chief Abd Muhaimin Malek while BN has opted to put forth Tapah Umno secretary Yusri Bakir.
