Half Its Cabinet Will Be Wiped Out If Malaysia Emulates China To Send Corrupt Ministers To Face Firing Squad

“WHAT punishment does your country have for corruption charges?” so asked Facebooker Unknown Facts in reaction to the death sentence meted out on China’s former agriculture and rural affairs minister Tang Renjian for accepting bribes worth over 268 million yuan (RM158.24 mil) in various positions held from 2007 to 2024.
These bribes allegedly came from businesses and individuals seeking to influence policy decisions, secure contracts or gain unfair advantages in the agriculture sector.
According to state-run news agency Xinhua, the Changchun Intermediate People’s Court in Jilin province had on Sunday (Sept 28) suspended the death sentence of Tang, 63, for two years given he had confessed to his crimes.

“If in Malaysia, half the cabinet ministers will thankfully be gone! ” by Klang-nite Peter Gan Moon Meng seemed to sum up the sentiment on behalf of ‘Boleh-landers” with Surya Ameruddin observed that “it’s not not half (but) 90% .”

Bintulu guy Tony Ann Lee Teo could be insinuating court scene which starred disgraced former premier Datuk Seri Najib Razak with his response: “Here in our country the convicted guy is allowed to wear expensive suits to the courtroom, escorted by our bravest army.”
Lee Francis Lee who now lives in Kluang lamented about how the so-called VVIP corrupters tended to get away from their crime by being “untouchable” and by sheer means of “money power” while KL-lite Chia Foo Wee chipped in with “… and a wheelchair to get sympathy and so no sentence .”

One ‘profile-less’ commenter Uried Edy must be referencing UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi with this remark” “The punishment for someone with 47 corruption cases is being given the position of Deputy Prime Minister. That’s in Malaysia. ”
His comment was echoed by presumed Sabahan Dalius Mambasal who vouched that corrupt politicians in his state tended “to be elected again with no (court) trial at all”.

A seemingly pro-Madani accountant Marzuki Madon was astonished at the fact that “the father of corruption from the previous regime was conferred the highest national accolade ‘Tun’ which is an equivalent to ‘Lord’ under the British system, our former colonialist”.
However, his praising of current Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was subdued by one Sph PH who reasoned that “as long as PMX needs your help, you will get a reduced jail sentence and a reduced fine … and even the likelihood of jail term changed to house arrest”.

A browse at the responses from international commenters tended to point to a similar trend of government practice – that the rich and powerful politicians tended to be let off the hook with minimum punishment or none at all.
