Hadi S Son In Law Retains Division Chief Post Unopposed
Amid controversy over a Facebook post alleged to contain racist undertones, Zaharudin Muhammad has retained his post as the Sungai Buloh PAS division chief.
ADSZaharudin (above, second from right), who is also PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s son-in-law, won uncontested during the division’s annual general meeting and division.
The matter was confirmed by Selangor PAS commissioner Ab Halim Tamuri, who was also at the meeting.
“Alhamdulillah, the Sungai Buloh PAS meeting went smoothly, and the top three leadership positions were won uncontested.
“Zaharudin remains as division chief. We all unanimously agreed to retain the previous leadership.
“There was only a change at the committee member level,” Ab Halim told Malaysiakini today.
PAS central committee member Nasrudin Hassan officiated the meeting.
Controversy
Zaharudin drew controversy after he was seen to have mocked Johnny Lim’s promotion to lieutenant general of the Malaysian Armed Forces, the first Chinese Malaysian to hold the rank.
In his social media post, Zaharudin penned a hypothetical scenario set in 2058 where a Chinese individual from Kampung Sungai Baru - now a Malay enclave - is appointed as Malaysia’s 50th prime minister.
The article stated that the prime minister’s parents had acquired citizenship through the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme after buying a condominium there 23 years ago.

Following this, several government leaders, especially from DAP, criticised the post, and police reports were lodged against Zaharudin.
Zaharudin doubled down on his claims in a separate Facebook post, claiming that his original post was meant to raise awareness about MM2H.
According to him, foreigners would buy property and settle in Malaysia, and when children are born, they might apply for citizenship and eventually claim voting rights.
“If foreigners enter (Malaysia) in an organised manner, like the Zionists in Palestine, then it is not impossible that by 2058, the prime minister will be the child of such foreigners,” he said. - Mkini
