Guan Eng Baffled Why Wee Not Happy Dap Assisting Bersatu

Lim, who is Finance Minister, said there is nothing wrong for the DAP to assist Bersatu's Karmaine Sardini communicate with Chinese voters if he wins the by-election
"I would be more than happy if someone is willing to assist me in my constituency. We want to help each other since we are in the same coalition," Lim said after a press event on the 40th Commonwealth Association of Tax Administrators Annual Technical Conference 2019 in Penang today
"We offered our assistance because we are multi-racial

"Since we have a Malay candidate, there are elderly Chinese voters who find difficulties in communicating with him, so we offer to assist by sending DAP Johor chief Liew Chin Tong," he added
Lim was responding to MCA president Wee Ka Siong who questioned the need to name Johor DAP chief Liew Chin Tong (above) as the "Chinese representative" to Karmaine
Wee said this goes against DAP and Pakatan Harapan's claim that it was colour-blind
"Why do they need a Chinese representative? Is the Bersatu candidate unable to represent the Chinese?" Wee had asked in Tanjung Piai yesterday
Earlier, Lim had said in a ceramah in Pekan Nanas that if Karmaine won the Tanjung Piai by-election, Liew would be appointed to aid Bersatu
This came about after some Chinese voters expressed concerns about not being able to communicate with Karmaine effectively
Wee also took a jab at Liew for becoming deputy defence minister through a senatorship or "backdoor"
Lim said assisting an MP is not a formal post, as he has also helped other MPs in the course of their duties
"We just help one another, and since Liew is from Johor, we ask him to help the Pakatan Harapan candidate, so that we can have better team work," said the Bagan MP
"We do not know why Wee is opposed to this. Is it just because we are willing to address an issue, the MCA is using it to attack us?" Lim asked
"Perhaps they have no answer. Their attack was met with the response that we would assist Karmaine. I do not see anything wrong in it," he stressed
Karmaine is contesting against BN's Wee Jeck Seng, and candidates from Gerakan, Berjasa, and two independents for the Johor seat, which goes to poll on Saturday. - Mkini
