Govt To Bear Quarantine Cost For Umrah Pilgrims In Hotels Govt Run Centres

(Facebook pic)KUALA LUMPUR: Umrah pilgrims could end up staying at hotels listed as private quarantine centres by the National Disaster Management Agency (Nadma) or undergo quarantine at government-run centres.
In a statement today, special functions minister Abdul Latiff Ahmad said that an umrah returnee under surveillance (PUS) and who tested negative for Covid-19 by the health ministry could be placed under quarantine in a hotel or public training centre depending on availability of rooms on the day of arrival.
“The quarantine cost will be borne by the government, including meals and airport transfer,” he said.
He said the statement was issued as the government was aware that many umrah pilgrims were worried about the additional cost of undergoing quarantine.
The minister said the quarantine period was set by the health ministry. He added that there were six public training centres listed as quarantine centres for umrah pilgrims – the Higher Education Leadership Academy and Institute Aminuddin Baki in Nilai; Institut Latihan Islam Malaysia, Institut Semarak Felda, and the Judicial and Training Institute in Bangi; and the Police Training Centre (Pulapol) in Kuala Lumpur.
Aside from these, Latiff said 19 hotels in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negeri Sembilan have been listed as private quarantine centres for umrah pilgrims.
The hotels in Kuala Lumpur are Royal Hotel, Swiss Garden Hotel, Furama Hotel, Mercure Hotel, IBIS Kuala Lumpur City Centre, IBIS Style KL Fraser Business Park, AnCasa Hotel, Cosmo Hotel, KIP Hotel and Arenaa Star Hotel.
In Selangor, the hotels are the Sama-Sama Hotel (Sepang), Grand Dorsett Hotel (Subang Jaya), Crystal Crown Hotel (Petaling Jaya), Sunway Clio Hotel, Hilton Garden Inn Hotel (Puchong), Oriental Crystal Hotel, Summit Hotel (USJ) and Pegasus Hotel (Shah Alam).
The lone hotel in Negeri Sembilan is Klana Resort in Seremban. - FMT
