Goats And Silica Sand State Reps File Report Against Sabah Cm
Two Sabah assemblypersons have filed a police report against Chief Minister Hajiji Noor over allegations related to a land deal in Kudat.
In a Facebook post, Sekong assemblyperson Alias Sani said he lodged the report together with Elopura assemblyperson Calvin Chong.
The Warisan politician said the report is related to the issue of “goats and silica sand in Pulau Balambangan” - without mentioning details.
It is believed this referred to the allegations circulating on social media, which accused the chief minister of abuse of power.
“The reason we filed the report is to ask the authorities to investigate if there are elements of abuse of power and corruption, as well as to probe the integrity of the chief minister in this issue for Sabahans’ interest.
“We stand as citizens and elected representatives to safeguard Sabah’s heritage, avoid the inappropriate use of the trust and power accorded to the chief minister, to prevent corruption which will result in losses that have to be borne by the people of Sabah in the future,” he added.
Sekong assemblyperson Alias SaniYesterday, Warisan Youth filed a report with MACC over the matter.
However, Hajiji (above) has denied the allegations, which surfaced on Facebook, and claimed it was done to tarnish his reputation.
The chief minister also ordered an investigation into the leak of confidential documents, which were also circulated.
"Investigations will be conducted and action will be taken against the officer(s) responsible.
"I will consult my lawyers to initiate possible legal action against these false allegations," he said.
The social media posting alleged impropriety in the approval of six land applications, involving 968.4 ha.
Hajiji said all the applications underwent the necessary procedures through the Land Utilisation Committee (LUC) meeting and were processed at the office.
‘All done by the book’
"The application for the Yayasan Sabah land has been referred to the Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd board of directors, and everything was done according to the law," he added.
The Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) president said the Yayasan Sabah land application has been referred to Innoprise Corporation Sdn Bhd's board of directors and all actions were done according to the law.
Meanwhile, Berita Harian reported that PGRS information chief Nizam Abu Bakar lodged a police report to counter the allegations.
Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah information chief Nizam Abu BakarContrary to the Facebook post, he said the land applications were processed in accordance with existing procedures and laws, with no land titles issued for the applications.
On the same note, Nizam addressed how the post had insinuated that Hajiji was linked to a businessperson with regard to the land deal.
He claimed that the same businessperson was seen in meetings with Warisan president and Hajiji’s predecessor, Mohd Shafie Apdal. - Mkini
