German Chancellor Gets Voted Out Then Back In Sanaa Airport Does Not Exist Anymore
1. Wild stuff has been happening yesterday.
The new German Chancellor (will check his name) was supposed to be sworn-in yesterday. As part of the process their members of parliament (Bundestag) must cast votes for the new Chancellor. Not an issue because the Bundestag would not convene unless some political party had enough support to form the government - same as any other country (except maybe Benua Asia Tenggalam where the leader can be "selected").
Lo and behold, the German Chancellor-in-waiting lost the parliamentary vote - which was done by secret ballot. There was total confusion and panic because this was the first time in the history of the German parliament that a Chancellor was 'voted out' on the first day of his job. So about six hours later they convened another vote and this time the new Chancellor squeezed through with just nine votes. So we have a new Miss Universe. Here be some news:
Friedrich Merz Germany's new chancellor at second attempt.Merz initially fell six votes short - significant blow to his prestige unprecedented failure in post-war German historysecret ballot in 630-seat Bundestag - no indication who refused to back him whether MPs from his own party or his coalition partner
Bundestag held second vote, Merz won 325 votes, majority of nine.it is thought that 18 MPs in his coalition partner dissented during first voteNo chancellor lost Bundestag vote in 76 years since 1949prevailing mood of confusion hours after the voteI think the 'prevailing mood of confusion hours after the vote' is going to last some time. There is no more Kaiser in Germany to smooth things over. If there is just a tiny swing in support the new Chancellor may lose his job again. The new guy appears as lost as the previous fellow Olaf Quisling.
2. May 9th Victory Day Parade in Moscow
Day after tomorrow ie May 9th Russia will be celebrating the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. WW2 came to an end after the Russians defeated Nazi Germany. The Russian army under the command of Marshal Zhukov entered Berlin on 21 April, 1945. By May 2nd the Germans had surrendered unconditionally to the Russians and the war ended.
The western Allies led by the US and Britain would not arrive in Berlin until two months later in July 1945.
Now there is a war in Ukraine led by the British against Russia. The British are planning to bomb the May 9th Victory Parade in Moscow. Zelenskiyy has said so more than once. Attending this year's Victory Parade will be 29 world leaders. This will include President Xi Jinping from China and President Fatah el-Sisi from Egypt.
Kremlin Reveals Full List of 29 Foreign Leaders Attending Victory Day Parade
The leaders set to attend include those from China, Vietnam, Egypt, Zimbabwe, Cuba, Laos, Mongolia, Equatorial Guinea, Ethiopia, South Ossetia, Myanmar, Palestine, Serbia, and Slovakia, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Congo, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Burkina Faso, Guinea-Bissau, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Abkhazia, Venezuela, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It will be interesting if the British try to bomb 29 world leaders in Moscow. Mr Putin has replied that if Ukraine attacks Moscow on May 9th, that Russia will nuke Ukraine!! As the stomach churns.
3. The Israelis level Sana'a International Airport to the ground.
A few days back the Houthis in Yemen shot a ballistic missile at Israel which got through the anti-missile defences and fell in an open space within the perimeter of Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv. In retaliation the Israelis despatched 20 jet fighters to Yemen to strike various targets. Including the Sana'a International Airport. The airport has been levelled to the ground and is now permanently closed.

Well, maybe they do need a new airport.
