Funeral Homes Issue Ti Says Can Take Criticism But Not Incitement

Deputy National Unity Minister Ti Lian Ker said he was prepared to take criticism but not incitement masquerading as criticism.
This was amid a row with the DAP after one of its members criticised the MCA leader for purportedly failing to safeguard the interest of funeral homes.
Businessperson Danny Ng, who is also a DAP member, had complained that Ti's office lodged multiple police reports against him after he asked the deputy minister to resign for purportedly failing to ensure the smooth operations of funeral homes when the "total lockdown" took effect on June 1.
Ti (above) said he was ready to take criticism but said there were increasing instances of "incitement" recently.
"I openly accept criticism and take stock of them.
"But what I reject are false accusations, toxic narratives and incitement masquerading as criticism against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, the prime minister and others that have been increasing recently.
"Recently, people from DAP have tried to incite hatred towards the government by claiming that non-Muslims cannot carry out funerals as they were neglected by the National Security Council.
"This is not a criticism directed towards the deputy minister (Ti) but ill-intent to incite racial hatred by hiding behind criticisms," he said in a statement.
The National Unity Ministry had given approval to funeral homes to operate on May 31 but they faced a hiccup after the government said the approval should come from the International Trade and Industry Ministry (Miti) at the eleventh hour. 
In the next few days, funeral homes faced difficulties getting the approval letter from Miti as its online system was clogged. - Mkini
