Form Task Force To Probe 10 Unresolved High Profile Cases Ngo Urges Pm
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim should instruct the police to form a task force to investigate 10 unsolved high-profile cases, including the attack on Pandan MP Rafizi Ramli’s son, said Projek Sama.
It also said the police’s failure to solve the high-profile cases raises serious questions about Anwar’s leadership and ability to control key institutions.
“If even parliamentarians and star athletes are not safe, are ordinary Malaysians safe?
“Should foreign investors feel safe if they have any disputes with powerful locals, like Pamela Ling did?” they asked in a statement today, referring to Ling’s still-unsolved abduction when she was on her way to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to have her statement recorded in connection to an investigation.

Pamela LingApart from the above cases, the NGO also referred to the bomb threat on lawyer-activist Siti Kasim, the Molotov cocktail attacks on three KK Mart outlets, and the attacks on three footballers - Safiq Rahim, Faisal Halim, and Akhyar Rashid.
On Aug 13, Rafizi’s 12-year-old boy was stabbed with a syringe near Putrajaya Mall and was rushed to the hospital.
Rafizi said the attack was carried out by two individuals dressed in black and wearing full-face helmets.

Rafizi RamliOn Aug 17, the police said Bukit Aman’s Criminal Investigation Department had taken over the probe into the attack.
Selangor police chief Shazeli Kahar said the move was necessary to ensure a more comprehensive and centralised investigation.
‘Not the first attack on MPs’
Projek Sama lamented that despite Bukit Aman taking over the case since last month, no update has been made available to the public.
It also pointed out that it was not the first time an attack had been perpetrated on a lawmaker’s family, citing the arson attack on Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham’s home in January 2024.

ADSThe NGO asked if anyone was prosecuted over the attack, raising questions about whether the case involving Rafizi’s son will also be forgotten once it's out of public memory.
In stark contrast, Projek Sama pointed out how the police swiftly dealt with the arson attack on Metro Tabernacle Church in Kuala Lumpur in 2010, during the premiership of Najib Abdul Razak, with the suspects caught and prosecuted.
“By Aug 13, 2010, two brothers were convicted and sentenced to five years’ imprisonment.”
The NGO also said that the authorities should not put cases in cold storage if no one lost their lives, stressing the need for the government to have a zero-tolerance policy on violence.

“And the public deserves to know both the investigation and pre-emptive measures applied after that.
“For example, is Rafizi’s family given police protection until his son’s assailants are caught?
“Is there a regular police patrol on Ngeh’s home? Are all CCTVs near Putrajaya Mall, Ngeh’s home, and the three firebombed KK Mart outlets now functional?” Projek Sama asked. - Mkini
